While it's ideal to have as many payment options as possible, it's important not to pay for ones you don't need. For example, if you sell expensive products (e.g., automobiles or fine jewelry) that people typically pay for on-site, or if you strictly conduct B2B (business to business) sales that never involve credit cards, then having multiple credit payment options might not make much sense. Before signing on the dotted line, ask a provider to demonstrate how its proposed pay models would directly benefit your business.

Examine a provider's account charges
Every provider has account charges. But some charge bogus ones in addition to selling credit card processing legitimate ones. Legitimate ones are as follows: authorization fees, which occur every time a bank that issued a card processes a transaction that the card initiated; statement fees, which go toward general overhead; monthly minimum fees, which are the difference between your actual fee amount and your minimum amount allowed; batch fees, which occur when you send in 24-48 hours worth of transactions for payment; annual fees, which go toward account maintenance; and early termination fees, which occur if you cancel your account within the contract period.
