The Operative Book by Majid Foroozandeh is a gripping story about life after 9/11 that goes deep into the complicated and shadowy workings of the intelligence community." The main character in Foroozandeh is an undercover agent who helps us understand global forces' hidden plans and schemes. What struck me was how governments use tragedies to get what they want, sacrificing morals and honesty to gain power. The reader has to think about why global actions are being done as the Operative works through a web of lies and manipulation. The book isn't afraid to show how terrible war is and how it hurts people and groups. Overall, "The Operative" is an interesting and thought-provoking book that shows the darker sides of modern politics and power.
