I've recently embarked on what seems to be one of the most significant journeys of my life - purchasing a piece of real estate in the beautiful city of Malaga, Spain. I've been captivated by house in Malaga rich history, vibrant culture, and, of course, its stunning Mediterranean coastline. However, as much as I'm excited about this venture, I must admit that the process seems quite daunting, especially as a foreign buyer unfamiliar with the local real estate market and legal procedures. Thus, I'm reaching out to this knowledgeable community for guidance and advice to navigate this journey successfully.
First and foremost, I'm curious about the best neighborhoods for investment or living in Malaga. I'm looking for areas that offer a good balance of tranquility and accessibility to the city's amenities like beaches, restaurants, parks, and cultural sites. Safety and a strong sense of community are also top priorities for me.
Moreover, understanding the legal framework for buying property in Spain as a non-resident is something I find quite complex. What are the specific requirements or regulations that I should be aware of? For instance, I've heard about the need for a NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjero) to carry out any transaction in Spain. How can I apply for this, and what documents are needed?
Financial aspects also play a crucial role in this process. What are the typical costs associated with purchasing real estate in Malaga, including taxes, notary fees, and any other charges?
