Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) is a horror video game franchise that has taken the internet by storm. Released in 2014 by Scott Cawthon, the first game puts the player in the shoes of a night security guard at a seemingly abandoned Chuck E. Cheese-like restaurant, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. What starts as a mundane job of watching security cameras quickly descends into a nightmare as the player realizes the animatronic characters, Freddy Fazbear and his band, become mobile and murderous at night.
The core gameplay of FNAF is simple yet suspenseful. Players are confined to a single office with limited resources. They must strategically use security cameras, doors, and lights to monitor the animatronics and prevent them from entering the office. The tension builds as the night progresses, and the animatronics become more aggressive, all while the player’s power supply dwindles.
